Meet the Middle School Principal

WAVA's Middle School Principal is Del Heistand.  He has had the opportunity to positively impact student learning with experience at just about every grade level and multiple roles. Most recently, he served as the Kittitas Secondary School Principal for grades 6-12. Some highlights as the Kittitas Secondary Principal includes increasing the staff and student culture (relationships and connections), implemented a creative master schedule that serves ALL students more equitably, created and implemented approved district-wide Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and increased Special Education supports that qualified Kittitas Secondary as an improving school, not a struggling school. The core to all these great changes while as Principal, is solely attributed to relationships and connecting with our students. Making commitments that positively impact students is the core of his education philosophy.
